The idea of a woman having “career goals” was utterly foreign prior to the 20th century. The idea of a woman having “fitness goals” or “athletic goals” was also foreign prior to the 20th century. Sure, historical women had goals—big goals, but they were almost exclusively…

@raeljames Yes. Lots of athletic teams—but they were all male. Wealthy women did ride horseback for sport but that’s about it.
