After a lifetime of hearing
“Your resting face is mean”
“I hated you when we met”
“I thought you hated me when we met”
“I thought you had an attitude because of your tone”
“You walked by & didn’t say anything”
turns out I’m autistic, found out late, & this was how folks saw me
@pot8um
I feel like this is me with most of the people I met. It’s gone to the point where I’m so confused when I meet someone that really wants to be my friend for some reason.
@pot8um
I've always gotten the same. People also either like me or hate me, never anything in-between. I've learned to just go with it now. Although it does mean less friends, the ones I have like me for my "scaryness" and they take way less work to get and keep.
@pot8um
I’ve hear this my whole life too. I also get “I passed you driving and you looked so mad” and constantly being asked what’s wrong or if I feel
bad. It’s wild to look back on the last 40 years and know now.
@pot8um
See, this makes me wonder. I've heard the same things all throughout my life. Never been gutsy enough to get an adult diagnosis though. There's a pretty long waiting list to get tested.
@pot8um
I once had a coworker complain that I was rude to her.
I literally had to pass her desk every time I needed to get something off the printer.
She expected me to greet her every time. You get one “mornin” from me and that’s it.
Ridiculous.
@pot8um
I always hear the same. Hope to get assessed for ADHD and autism, it would explain so much. Tired of hearing how mean I look and sound unless I actively try not to.
