Not to oversimplify the past 3.5 years but if the government would’ve just paid us to stay home, then we’d be back to actual normal instead of this new normal of ignoring mass infections, going to work/school while sick, and catching a virus multiple times for no reason

@pot8um Uh we are back to the old normal, we went to school/work sick because you needed money to buy things like food and pay rent, and you didn't get paid for being sick, or you got points or just straight fired...

@pot8um It's amazing how even doing something that would unquestionably benefit society (like paying to upgrade every indoor commercial AC system to HEPA; not just for virus but smoke/smog/etc) would freak out a large portion of the population because COMMUNISM!!!

@pot8um They can't have us figuring out that it's possible for us all to live comfortable lives without toiling in the trenches for their benefit.

@pot8um Even if they had not done that, & pushed masking, air filtration, testing, & contact tracing, we would be so much further ahead. It just feels like they gave up.

@pot8um we'd actually be in a state of economic collapse, with less developed vaccines and more overall infection. not to mention the collective trauma of such a hardcore program. China was adamant about doing zero-COVID and even they had to face reality.

@pot8um @u_keik I just went to Europe for 2 weeks of glorious mask free living & returned 100% well. Spent 3 days in NYC fully masked indoors & on transit, got Covid for the 1st time. #covidisnotover #novidnomore

@pot8um I'm furious because I KNOW this could've been over (or at least managed) by 2021 if we'd been allowed to STAY HOME for a few months but noooo, we all decided we needed to go Back To Normal(TM) like four months after the pandemic was announced and like... 😡🤬

@pot8um If they had maintained the ppe stockpile. If they had coherent and consistent public messaging. If the public wasn’t 🦇💩. *sigh* After NEEDING to understand WHY we did what we did I realized that no matter how simple the solution we were always doomed. Ppl won’t cooperate!

@pot8um 1 quarter loss in profits was too much to ask. That is the truth. Our futures were sacrificed for the 2nd quarter profits of 2020. Capitalism must have growth of capital.
