Their “reduction of plastic” argument is misleading
Chargers end up in landfills because they stop fucking working
The goal shouldn’t be to deprive the consumer of a vital component
It should be to make a better fucking product
Stop making deliberately shitty products.
They don’t… include chargers… with new phones anymore???????????
Remember literally earlier today when I said we’re now in the Fuck You phase of end-stage capitalism?
WELP
I didn’t study economics but I know capitalism ain’t it, chief
Never was, never will be
I’m sorry that I couldn’t fit a dissertation about the infinite pitfalls of capitalism into one tweet but will y’all please kindly remove yourselves off of my dick
@pot8um
people get new phones before their previous hardware expires which could be seen as an argument against including a charger but also software designers are very adamant on planned obsolescence which is just fucking..... why???? the hardware works perfectly fine but its unusable
@pot8um
The Apple iPhone cables are the worst on the market… even the crappy Poundland/Dollar store cables last longer… and yet no one seems to mention this… it’s only been shite for about 15 years… can’t expect them to have addressed it by now…
@pot8um
my grandmother lamented there used to be places to fix small appliances like toasters & percolator coffee pots; we still have the coffee pot, which she got as a wedding gift in 1963, still works better than the keurig we replaced twice. it's def deliberately shitty manufacturing
@pot8um
If they're concerned about that, give me an option to reject it as I'm checking out.
"Click this box if you do not need a new Samsung Charging Kit."
@pot8um
The actual charger can be carried over from phone to phone. I guarantee you’ve got about four or five in your house right now. You NEED the cable but the charger, you already have
@pot8um
Worst thing : most of the old charger aren't compatible with new fast charge standard. So you inevitably need to buy a new one at some point.
They don't do that to save the planet, they do that because it costs them less money to incline a charger in the box
@pot8um
Not to mention the carbon emissions of sending two separate packages. If u order a phone, u now need to order a cable too lol, usually after the fact. Which will require more packaging, time, transit etc. When they could just include it in the fucking original box
