Why is that hard to believe? .Mostly because we've seen 'this is what it is now' every few years, and some of the most successful companies looked completely different. Again, it doesn't matter: If many feel this way, you're going to have to play this game (insert wargames.gif).

And this is why rollups are going to be devastating, not liberating, at scale. Small profitable businesses pay their owners well and build cells of resilience. Small profitable rolled up businesses take that money and centralize it.
Financialization killed the US industrial base. The math is simple: when corporations give away 90-95% of profits to shareholders for 30 years, there's nothing left to build or invest with. Stock buybacks won't buy you industrial competitiveness.
