Youth centres are a lifeline for young people. Losing them means losing a crucial support system 💔

We had a fun session yesterday testing our knowledge and having a discussion over some of the topics that we have gone through in previous sessions! Here’s a look back on some of the sessions we have done in the past few weeks 🥰

In today’s SBG session we discussed the importance of good intentions and positive motivation behind the want of change, it’s important to have the mindset of ‘I love me now’ rather than ‘I’ll love myself after I change my hair, my weight etc. We also created positive posters!

We had a few new members in our group this month so we spent the session getting to know one another through some fun chats and old school playground games! 😄

Todays Strong Black Girls session was based on the theme of self care, we did some nail painting, bracelet making and had a little chat about some of the things we love to do! 💫

Seeking help should never be a last resort, we should aim to create a safe space for our black youth so that they do not feel hesitant to ask for help.

It is important to educate ourselves on the issues of discrimination that our black youth may feel, so that we can work to combat possible consequences such as depression.

We must work to close the gap between our black youth and their white counterparts in seeking mental health help. Services like ourselves aim to help do this.
