As we approach the end of March, we give thanks for our excellent shoot harvests! They've allowed us to enjoy fresh, local greens throughout the coldest and darkest days. We reflect on the winter crops as springtime vibes spread far and wide on the farm!

In the coming weeks, we will transition every greenhouse one by one - harvesting the last of these bunching crops and replanting each greenhouse with its summer planting of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other hot weather crops!

The seeds from previous weeks are reaching new heights, and we are transplanting and adding supports as needed. Each year we are in awe of how fast new life transpires, there is never a dull moment on the farm! We will be in the fields soon enough!

Savoy and napa cabbage are a favorite around the farm! Do you have a favorite between the two? Luckily at the farm, we never have to choose!

We planted the bunches and greens in September and October of last year that we are harvesting this week! They've experienced all different types of weather. We've been working hard these past few months to keep those crops alive, and now, in March, we are able to harvest again!

Purple top turnips now available via wholesale and CSA delivery! We always find them quite playful, because they remind us of Super Mario Brothers 2 - anyone else remember tossin' a lot of turnips while playing that game?! πŸ‘ΎπŸ˜†

By deciding to eat locally, you support thousands of small producers such as creameries, cheesemakers, butchers, bakeries, sauerkraut makers, and of course, vegetable farmers. And, by supporting local producers, you invest your food dollars directly into your community!

This month, as well as in April transplanted kales, mizunas, chards, mustards, and other greens will mature and find their way into CSA shares. And following that, it won't be long until other exciting fresh transplants mature and allow for harvest!

The growth that can happen in just a few weeks time is truly amazing. The chard, cucumbers, onions, and other first-sown seeds are gaining inches in height. And this week, bok choy, head lettuces, scallions, eggplants, sweet peppers and cilantro were all put into trays!
