Follow me here or IG (I'll probably post a bit more frequently to IG), to follow my trip! I'll be posting plenty of content, so prepare to see a lot of incredible arctic wildlife, and more Black leaders and researchers in the Arctic at once than you've probably ever seen!

Expedition cruises are growing contributors to climate change and underwater noise in the Arctic, but I'm grateful for this chance to learn, explore & share about conservation & making travel more sustainable & less impactful (some of which @AdventureCanada is already starting)

We'll be on the lookout for polar bear, beluga, narwhal and more, both from the boat and on some frequent stops on land by zodiac. We'll also by stopping in Inuit communities as we go, with a chance to learn from them about their ways of life and how things are changing.

Our trip will take us from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland (by one of the largest Altantic Puffin breeding colonies in Greenland), through Tallurutiup Imanga (Lancaster Sound - the largest conservation area in Canada!), and eventually to Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk (Coppermine).

One of the most fascinating collective behaviors is chain formation in army ants. The worker ants cling together via hooks on their feet to bridge large gaps. Their sisters can then walk across to reach the other side. Here is Eciton burchellii inside an experimental setup.

Minesing Wetlands KBA is the largest fen bog in southern Ontario and one of Canada's most diverse undisturbed wetland areas! 'Minesing' originates from the Ojibwe word for 'island,' referring to an island in Lake Edenvale that once covered the area where the wetlands now exist.
