Meanwhile those in W Cornwall might be seeing some flashes of lightning but not hearing much thunder. this is typical of mid level instability where you tend to see more cloud to cloud lightning and less cloud to ground strikes.
You might notice that a lot of the cloud arriving from the SW is fairly high up. mid level instability. not all the rain from showers is reaching the ground due to drier air near the surface evaporating it. a few big drops though here in Exmouth.
