Excited to be involved in this study led by @HelenChuMD as part of the @CDCgov's CHARM network tracking the spread of respiratory viruses across the US.
The 5-yr pandemic-preparedness project will trace how #flu, #COVID_19, #RSV and other respiratory viruses spread in communities, and catalog circulating strains. @HelenChuMD @UWMedicine will lead the study. @uwepidemiology @UWDeptMedicine @uwsph.

We @UWVirology @GreningerLab performed sequencing using a capture-based approach and identified EV-D68, CVA21, 4, and 6. Surprising (to me) was that there was enough genetic material in environmental swabs to recover full genomes. 4/.

The goal was to characterize the epidemiology of non-rhinovirus enteroviruses in these congregate settings. We've previously done this for HPIV, RSV, seasonal human coronavirus, and rhinovirus. Here's a nice thread on one of many led by @ericchowmd: 3/.
What a year it's been! I am proud to share another awesome study to come out of our collaborative work in @HelenChuMD 's lab: Human parainfluenza virus infections in homeless shelters. @EIDjournal
