I donāt think Labour will come close to 1.5m homes. Their reforms so far are broadly positive but donāt go far enough. But those changes wonāt start to impact completion rates for a few months yet. The figure below is largely a result of the Conservativesā changes in Dec 2023.
A reminder that Angela Rayner said in February there would be "no excuses" if Labour don't reach the 1.5m housebuilding target

Hereās a thread from last year where I explained their past attempts to put a plan in place.
This is great from @JonnElledge. After the local elections, Castle Point doesnāt have a *single* councillor from a national party. And a huge reason for that is opposition to new homes. If you havenāt been following their local plan process it is, as the kids say, wild.

As housing becomes more scarce, it becomes more expensive.
Here is (yet another) downward sloping demand curve for housing. When the cost of housing increases, holding income and population constant, demand for housing falls. from @matthewplan.
