Civilians are doing the best they can, @TimKennedyMMA but you are right. Strategic deployment & trained disaster recovery and emergency experience will guide the civilians for maximum impact. The government and the people can and should work as a collective under trained guidance
. @NC_Governor we need the American military to take over. Plain and simple. We need real command leadership. You have the most incredible army on the planet: located with you in North Carolina. You CAN make it happen. Lives will be lost if you don’t.

This is a lie. Federal help in the mountains is minuscule at best. Sure, agencies are there. Citizens are doing the legwork, for each other. I cannot explain how livid I am.
To all those across the southeast and Appalachia who've had their lives and livelihoods torn apart by Hurricane Helene, I want you to know this Administration isn't leaving your side. There’s not a damn thing we can’t get done when we work together.

I was in Avery Co today and I saw exclusively private citizens helping. Serving food, search and rescue. Not a single federal helicopter in the air. The spirit in the mountains is strong, but only because of the people not the federal government. This is an absolute travesty
Days before this storm hit, I directed my Administration to pre-position federal personnel, critical supplies, and more near the storm's path. We're moving heaven and earth to make sure that everyone affected by this storm gets what they need.
