Speaking in the @HouseofCommons today @SteveBarclay recognised that ‘junior docs have been under significant pay & workforce pressure’ which is ‘why he wants to sit down with them’ An incredible act of double-speak as his lack of engagement with us so far indicates the opposite.

If you keep saying health care is “free”…you genuinely start to make people believe that the staff don’t need good pay Cos it’s a “charity”- yup? Which is fine Till in a global economy, other jobs & a shortage of staff? People choose something else Or leave. Simples 🤷♂️

We seriously need to get rid of the term ‘junior’ doctor. After speaking to my grandparents (who are relatively well educated!) it was clear they had NO idea what a junior doctor was. They were shocked when I told them a ‘junior’ was likely to be operating on them next week.
