It’s common to say that law schools like Yale, Harvard, Stanford, and Berkeley “don’t have grades.” But of course they have grades—just words instead of letters. High honors, honors, pass, low pass, etc are just as much grades as A, A-, B, etc. Fewer gradations, but still grades.

Gallup: % of Americans who are satisfied with the way things are going in U.S. right now. 🔵 Democrats - 0% (lowest ever).🔴 Republicans - 76%. The 76-point partisan gap is the largest Gallup has measured on this question.

Law schools have problems, but the usual law school practice of blind grading paired with a mandatory curve does serve the important role of preventing grades from becoming "participation trophies.".

What law school was like in ancient times, the 1990s.
When I was in law school, I sat on two Boston phone books in Torts class so I could see the professor from my corner assigned seat behind the very tall student assigned to sit in the row in front of me. These days, the Associate Dean for Class Seating would take care of this.
