Homeschoolers talk about the 2-hour school day. But are we ready for the 5-hour work day?

The 8-hour work day was not ordained from above for all time. It was dreamed up by humans in a particular time period. It doesn't make sense for every person, every job, or every organization. And it makes less sense in the knowledge economy. https://t.co/wIME24wRVe

“Just tell me what’s on the test” = old model. “I know how to set a goal and get there” = new model. Open education is about raising kids who don’t wait for permission to learn.

if you can set a goal and work at it until you succeed that's the only skill you need if school taught kids this skill, they could use it to learn math, program a game, or do anything else they need to

The word "homeschooling" doesn't mean what it used to. @leo3linbeck pointed this out in a recent Substack post. Homeschooling used to mean parents teaching every subject. Today’s families mix Khan Academy for algebra, Great Hearts Online for history, local studios for art,

5,400 kids tracked. Every 1 hour of daily screen time = 9-10% lower test scores. But not all screen time is equal. Minecraft > Doomscrolling Quality matters more than quantity. https://t.co/ALhnh9XJZY

We're guessing this visualization of homeschool growth state by state since 2017 comes from the @NYTimes because who else puts a hyphen in the word "home-school"? Judging by the color scheme, the chart maker seems alarmed by whatever's happening in NY and DC.
