🚀Text anonymization is hard; DP often hurts utility. We use entity-aware control codes + either ICL(with bad-token blocking) or prefix-tuning w/ masking to get strong privacy–utility tradeoffs on legal & clinical data, outperforming DP-SGD in practice. https://t.co/Kt0PIoYsq3

1/6🤖🩺 Medical answers are context-dependent, hypothetical, and subjective (If pain gets worse, see a doctor). Existing systems break here: they generate invalid claims or omit these sentences. MedScore solves this with context-aware claims and verifies against trusted sources.

💊 Not a very good news for Medical LLMs. A new Mass General Brigham study shows leading LLMs often try to please the user in medical chats, and to do that, can output wrong advice. Paper shows that default models will confidently echo bad medical assumptions, and that a small

I’m recruiting PhD students for 2026! If you are interested in robustness, training dynamics, interpretability for scientific understanding, or the science of LLM analysis you should apply. BU is building a huge LLM analysis/interp group and you’ll be joining at the ground floor.
Life update: I'm starting as faculty at Boston University in 2026! BU has SCHEMES for LM interpretability & analysis, so I couldn't be more pumped to join a burgeoning supergroup w/ @najoungkim @amuuueller. Looking for my first students, so apply and reach out!

Using debate among AI agents has been proposed as a promising strategy for improving AI reasoning capabilities. Our new research shows that this strategy can often have the opposite effect - and the implications for AI deployment are significant. (1/10)

I'm shocked at how poorly this is advertised, so here's a PSA: NSF has a GRFP-like program specifically for computing disciplines called CISE. The program provides the same 3 years of PhD funding PLUS a year-long mentorship program for the application cycle.

Our work on readability evaluation for Plain Language Summarization will appear at #EMNLP2025!! @DanielKhashabi @mdredze Paper: https://t.co/kwB9a91HFT TLDR: Traditional readability metrics correlate poorly with human judgements & LMs consider deeper readability features. 1/6

Taking off for Vienna #ACL2025! 🇦🇹 Excited to talk with people about transparent reasoning, multimodality, and fact verification. Stop by our multimodal RAG workshop on Friday 🔥🔥🔥 https://t.co/dzSWyFPst4 Please reach out if you want to grab coffee!
New Workshop on Multimodal Augmented Generation via MultimodAl Retrieval (MAGMaR) to be held at @aclmeeting ACL in Vienna this summer. We have a new shared task that stumps most LLMs - including ones pretrained on our test collection.
