We sent dozens of photographers to capture once-bustling public places around the world – beaches, fairgrounds, restaurants, movie theaters, tourist spots and train stations – that are now empty amid the coronavirus pandemic
These images are haunted and haunting, but in some ways they are hopeful. By listening to the experts and staying apart, we have not yet lost the capacity to come together for the common good.
