I paid a $900 fee for my mom’s local paper to publish her obituary and a photo taken by my dad. The NY Post reprinted both and placed ads on the page, which means I have effectively (unwillingly) paid $900 for the Post to make money off my mom’s obituary and a personal photo.

Why don't you pay her for the article? Why don't you pay her father a photographer's fee? You ripped it off for your own profit.

It's a beautiful obituary. I loved it the first time I read it when Caity posted her own work. You should pay her for publishing this.
