Curious how the 2024 monsoon is affecting streamflow? Check out these hydrographs from two sites in southeast Arizona. Notice how quickly these watercourses rise and fall. Given the nature of monsoon thunderstorms, forecasting these rises proves to be a perennial challenge! #azwx

Yesterday, CBRFC staff met with Central Utah Water Conservancy District employees and discussed ways to better serve water consumers. Site visits were made to Upper Stillwater, Starvation, and Strawberry reservoirs, pictured below. All of these reservoirs are full at the moment!

High temperatures for most of Utah will range from the 90s-100s Wednesday and again Thursday. Stay hydrated, wear light colored clothing, and take breaks, especially if working or recreating outdoors! #utwx

Great guesses! The river gage in the video is on Little Cottonwood Creek at Crestwood Park. Below is a hydrograph showing river levels over the past week and a half. The cooler weather has really slowed down the snowmelt.

Did you know that @nwscbrfc began as a "Water Supply Forecast Unit" in 1947? We recently came across this blurb from a March, 1947 issue of "The Desert Magazine" with what might be our very first forecast! We became a River Forecast Center in 1969. #coloradoriver #water
