This was not the deep state - but an automated process that asks for further verification when domains are registered with the term 'gov' in them as it has often been used for phishing and other scams. The web address was restored once this process was completed.

This wasn't the result of a complaint or political in nature - it was because an additional layer of security is used on domains that contain the term 'gov' - as they are often used for phishing or scams. Once verified, the domain was quickly reenabled.

We’ve been growing our team to better tackle domain abuse on .UK, so we’re on the ground at ICANN84. Fighting DNS abuse at scale means partnerships and intelligence sharing. We’re building relationships and strengthening our capability as part of the internet community.

Day four at ICANN 84 and there’s a big focus on sessions focused in key issues relevant to the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) community. Throughout the day we’ll be represented at many events.
