"Colorado is seeing a quick succession of societal changes - statewide police reform, a shifting view toward law enforcement in schools, the renaming of Stapleton. But don't mistake 'recent' for 'rushed.'"
A word on those of us who've used privilege to avoid tough conversations.

Thank you so much!
@KyleClark
for saying what was obvious yet it still needed to be said! So many avoiding the tough conversations because it didn't affect them or they didn't want to be made to feel uncomfortable! I applaud you for saying it outloud!

The school to prison pipeline has more to do with whatβs happening at home than in school. Removing a resource officer from the school solves nothing if no one is going to try to help these kids with often difficult home situations.

this was your best moment yet! A model for how we all can show empathy not sympathy, as we donβt all know what it is like to be a minority in this world. We can be there to listen and support, but we have no right to say βwe know how you feel,β because we donβt.

COVID 19 is on the rise? I thought it would magically go away when the weather got warm? Well, we're tired of it so let's have a rally with 19,000 people! Maybe pretending it's gone will be the magic cure.

A conservative view: if the name change happens with a vote of the constituency affected? Whatβs the problem? Police officers out of schools? Probably not a bad idea. My one concern is future school violence or shootings.
Police reform? Long overdue. Letβs do it the right way.
