Janet Lomax was the first African American woman to anchor major weeknight newscasts in Rochester and a member of the News10NBC family for 36 years. Pardon our bias, but she completely deserves this!

She came from a time when local news was not simply read after an edit by some corporate dolt who had an address in Rochester but actually lived elsewhere. And journalists led forums , produced real local news and did more than host social events. Janet was simply terrific.

She was a great Anchorman no matter what the color of her skin. Why can’t we just say that?!
