An awesome day of stroke resuscitation simulation and crisis resource management learning at Sunnybrook, as part of incoming PGY1 @uoftneurons! Proud to uphold our tradition for the 4th year in a row, focusing on stroke emergencies and the critical role of CRM in resuscitation.

Great episode by @heavyhelmet challenging dogma of non-pilot crew involvement in stabilizing an incapacitated pilot scenario. Great #CRM learnings that apply to resuscitation teams, including stroke systems of care @strokefm where transport is used for EVT

Are you still using Unfractionated Heparin in your acute neurovascular care? There are major issues with the quality of anticoagulation it provides in a real-world setting - see our paper from earlier in the year:

Golden rules of #Resus from #CodeBlue to #CodeStroke: "Do first things first, quickly, quietly, and without fuss or panic" wonderful stuff from @cliffreid @REsusurrus #ZeroPointSurvey #STEPUP as we implemented in Stroke https://t.co/AtPe3fcH9r
@nerdybraindoc @LowylNotario
My Dad was a firefighter and this is from his 1961 First Aid book. 60 years later we're advocating many of the same principles. Some good #ZeroPointSurvey concepts (Self, Team, Environment, Patient), starting with 'Self':

Wise words from @neuroresuslab member and mentor! Same for #CodeStrokes - always good to check in frequently post-NIHSS "why are we still here?" #DTN #SmoothIsFast
A key question to ask in the resus room when you've been resuscitating for a while (especially trauma), or have yet to progress to, say, CT: "why are we still here?" Works especially well in the prehospital setting too!

A 🥇st! - Stroke Team was able to perform an end-to-end #CodeStroke #Resuscitation: attend to the code, stabilize and take to the scanner, diagnose, treat, secure the airway, place the art. line, and facilitate on-going care with our neurosurgical and ICU colleagues.
