⭐️ DBS did not lead to worsened EDSS ⭐️Those with baseline mild (EDSS 3 or less) or severe (EDSS 6.5 or more) more consistently had sustained improvement, potentially due to ability to tolerate stimulation side effects

⭐️Most patients had moderate sustained tremor improvement ⭐️Only Vim nucleus was used in programming; avoid using 2 leads in 1 hemisphere in MS to avoid MRI incompatibility ⭐️No one had new lesions or relapses after surgery (note most patients had progressive MS)

"African American persons with #MultipleSclerosis have more aggressive clinical and imaging outcomes than White American pwMS, including lower brain and spinal cord volumes. However, #ImagingStudies are lacking considering the effects of #sex, #race, and #ethnicity together."
Looking at the intersection between ethnicity and sex, we found African American women with MS had smaller thalamus, cerebellar GM, & C2 volumes than White American women with MS despite similar rates of progression @JNI_Journal @MayoClinicNeuro

Delighted to share @andreuvilaseca7 et al study highlighting episodes of painful transient vision loss in #MOGAD ➡️ He came up with the interesting mixed Greek/Latin term of amaurosis fugax dolorosa ➡️ This may be an early clue to #MOGAD diagnosis 👇 https://t.co/2ZVkyAbwyB
