the context behind this video is that she has been meaning to talk about her personal experiences for a while and mentioned that in her last video tldr; naachan has stated that she has been diagnosed for bulimia and binge eating/vomiting, and NOT anorexia

she thinks that one of the primary causes of her developing those EDs is simply due to how since a young age (14) she’s been in AKB48, and she was so busy and overworked that she would forget to or not have time to eat at all

14 year old her was very underweight as well, around 36kg? but she didn’t think too much of it due to how she was on the shorter side (less than 155cm) at some point around when she turned 16 is when the binge eating symptoms started

again, because she was so young she didn’t really think too much of it, since children should eat anyways. but the situation escalated to the point where regular meals weren’t enough and she would binge eat more than 9 meals a day

soon though the anxiety of putting on weight led to (you guessed it) forcibly making herself throw up after binge eating the next bit covered some incredibly detailed descriptions of the above so im skipping the translation as it might get too uncomfortable. dm me if you want it

she used to have states of escalated and withdrawal from the disorder, and many times she has gone on stage on the theatre immediately after throwing up, so just think about how bad it was

the 2016 sousenkyo and hiatus near that time was when she finally opened up to fans about her health conditions. management tried to convince her to not tell fans about it, but Aki-P told her that by opening up about her illness you might be able to resonate with fans who were

going through the same illnesses as her, and to not consider it a weakness she says she is very thankful to akip for having her back then

her condition got a lot better within three years, and the main reason for that was the fact that she moved out from her family home to living on her own, so her refrigerator was smaller, she was a lot more broke to spend on food and cleaning became a hassle

the main takeaway she has from all this is that medical help did not do anything for her and for her personally the shift in living conditions is what changed her life slowly, but she says that this is a personal experience and shouldn’t be taken as fact

and her main message is to love your body and yourself and that your weight really doesn’t change who you are, so if this video helped anyone with their body image issues she would be very grateful for it

“i wonder why there’s such an importance placed in japan to be skinny? i can’t understand it at all. but in the end, i hope everyone aspires to become the version of yourself you truly love and want to be”
