EXCLUSIVE. The organisation which funds healthcare in Lancashire and South Cumbria plus three hospital trusts have been put in the equivalent of financial “special measures”

In other words, last month a fairly small hospital in Greater Manchester had 28 times the number of people waiting >12 hours to be admitted compared to the whole of England in 2015 (ends).

In Tameside Hospital in Greater Manchester this happened to 46% of the patients who were admitted last month - 805 people out of 1,763. (3/4).

In North West England alone 11,750 patients were in this category. “More than 12 hours” can often mean 1, 2 or more days - often on a trolley in a corridor. (2/4).

In December 2015 in England NHS figures show 29 patients waited longer than 12 hours to be admitted to hospital from A&E.Last month that figure was 54,207 (1/4).
