New Zealand election tomorrow. I was there for the last one. This was the only evidence of a polling centre. Laws prohibit leaflets, banners, party workers, corflutes at booths. No democracy sausage. No fundraisers. It is serious business. Get in, do your duty, move on.

AAP is part of the vital media infrastructure in this country, allowing local news outlets to cover stories only they can cover, with the national news and photos are delivered through the AAP service. Regional/rural news outlets will be even more at risk. A solution needed.

Met a fellow outside Chatswood Public today - showing it to his son and grandson. He was a student there 75 years ago and remembers this day with the announcement of Victory in the Pacific. They all got an early mark and he heard all the church bells tolling as he walked home.
