1987. The Met Police are waging an intimidation campaign against London's gay community. Wearing rubber gloves to "protect from AIDS" they raid the Royal Vauxhall Tavern "Well well," says Lily Savage (Paul O'Grady) on stage. "It looks like we’ve got help with the washing up" /1

One of my favourite jokes is the boating lake joke: “Come in number 9 your time is up!” “But we’ve only got 8 boats” “Number 6, are you in trouble?” I love the way it builds the image in your mind then literally flips it.

One of the craziest things for me on twitter was that I heard a rumour about an alternative ending for a 60-year-old film I like, so I tweeted the director to ask if it's true. He, now 96, replied to tell me he'd considered that ending but never actually filmed it.

i went to berlin’s famous berghain and discovered that i’m terminally british: at one point a guy tried to put his finger in my arse and i turned around and gently said “no thank you” like i’d been offered a flyer for a village fête

PSA, never, EVER tell anyone after they get a question in a quiz right that they should be ashamed of knowing something. It is completely and utterly infuriating.

This is a photo of a trans man, who was forced by Texas law to compete against women instead of men. This is the consequence of the laws you’re passing, not the problem that you’re solving, and you are literally too ill-informed to notice.

Do not weep! It is the gods who weep. They see us posting over and over again, and cannot make us refrain from our folly. People prefer evil over good.

Wrote about the idea that your twenties aren’t “real adulthood”; the role that infantilisation plays in culture and politics, and how it that is being weaponised by the Right https://t.co/iDttDjTP7Y

Seen a lot of people hating on @christapeterso on here as late and, like, I don't think everyone has to be friends or anything *but* it has involved insinuating that she's not a good scholar. I feel in a position to weigh in on that - she's in fact genuinely interesting and good.
