Members of Congress should not be paid during a shutdown as if they are essential workers. They're probably the least essential of all. Cutting off their pay would focus their minds.

@mirandadevine Trump should sign an executive order prohibiting stock trades, options, PEG investments and other equity deals while Congress is out. Mutually Funds only, limit 1 trade per year.

@mirandadevine federal employees are either furloughed without pay or are required to work without a paycheck until the shutdown ends. All the more reason every politician having no concern about government reopening should have both pay & benefits nil.

@mirandadevine Absolutely, When Congress fails to do their jobs & government shuts down, they should not get paid, at all, during the shutdown, no back pay, nothing. They failed to do the job, they should not get paid, Yes, that would likely motivate them, despite all the grifting they do.

@mirandadevine Amen to that. Members of Congress should be held to AT LEAST the same standards of our citizens. My company shuts down, I don't get paid. And while we're at it, stop the corrupt insider trading and rules like not having to get a covid shot.
