This is an incredibly troubling development. It is imperative that current democratic institutions are maintained in the absence of more democratic alternatives. How we act at times of crisis reveals our underlying values. Democracy is a value we can't we afford to obfuscate.
The govt has decided to shut down the online Parliament. In future, only those present in the Chamber will be allowed to take part. The Speaker's letter on this has three main takeaways, that should matter to anyone who cares about our democracy. [THREAD]
