I have a much darker theory as to why she was there. “Retrieving sentimental items” doesn’t happen on the floor next to stepmom’s bed. It doesn’t happen while she’s home in the middle of the night. 🤔

Will the investigation include cellphone data? Did she have her phone or a burner phone? Who else was in the area that usually is not in the area? Did she have any accomplices?

I'd like to point out that you have zero qualifications to make any speculation about this. Only a neurologist or psychiatrist would be qualified to make such judgements. And, having lived through a parent dying with Alzheimer's Dz, I'd say thing can change quickly. Shame on you!
