noone talks about how much of an anti-pattern db connection pools are in long-running backend services. serverless takes the correct approach: never open a direct connection to your database from your application, always go through a proxy.

my biggest piece of advice for people applying to YC is to apply with something that's already working . that has traction, paying customers, early signs of pmf. much better use of YC to scale what's already working instead of starting something new. or else you're going to be.
