Roman Abramovich decided Chelsea could not go ahead with joining the ESL and, together with the board, he gave the green light for the club to start preparing documentation to pull out.
Jurgen Klopp has to be manager of the year but I'd make Frank Lampard a close second. Third in table, FA Cup final and CL last 16 after Hazard sale and transfer ban, while bringing through youth, is pretty incredible.
Gary Neville says Romelu Lukaku should apologise to his

Tottenham sacking Mauricio Pochettino instead of backing him was one of the worst decisions ever. And now Daniel Levy is struggling to find the right man. Shock.
Jude Bellingham is clearly super talented and he's a great story. But he's 17 and he's completed one 90 mins for Dortmund. Calling him up to the England senior squad over players like Maddison and Barkley is an utter nonsense.
Chelsea now in talks with Raphinha over personal terms, which are not expected to be an issue. Tuchel picking a front three from him, Sterling, Mount and Havertz is quite tasty.
The £18m Chelsea spent on Olivier Giroud in Jan 2018 has been money really well spent. Helped Chelsea win the FA Cup, top scored in Europa League in Chelsea's run to winning it and now scoring PL goals just at the right time to secure a Champions League place.
Liverpool didn't score a single goal in normal time in three finals. They've been brilliant all season but embarrassing of Michael Owen to try to claim they are the best team in Europe. Would be more helpful to analyse where they have (just) fallen short.
I'm told Chelsea and Manchester City were informed the Super League was going ahead last week and were basically given the option of get on board or risk being left behind. They were not drivers of the plan...1/2
Easy to write the Club World Cup off as a nothing trophy and it is a strange tournament. But winning every available trophy over a 19-year period is an incredible achievement for an English club. That's why Chelsea's success in Abu Dhabi was significant.
Understand reports from Germany that RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku has already undertaken a medical ahead of a proposed move to Chelsea next summer are accurate.

Graham Potter has verbally agreed to become the new Chelsea head coach. All that remains is to complete the formal process. Graham Potter will be the new Chelsea head coach

£18m for Olivier Giroud three years ago was a ridiculous bargain for Chelsea. Top scored on their run to win the Europa League, massive part in getting them into the CL last season with vital goals late in the season and now that overhead kick.
Understand Liverpool have outbid Chelsea for Moises Caicedo which would also help explain Chelsea’s bid for Lavia. Suggestion however remains that Caicedo would prefer Chelsea move. More to follow

I have it on good authority that Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira have joined Daniel Ek in his bid to buy Arsenal FC and I am told it is very real.

Story:
Lukaku situation moving fast - Inter now know of his desire to return to Chelsea and the feeling both in Italy and in England is the move will happen.

No need to worry about a lack of an official statement 're Chelsea pulling out of the ESL. That will most likely come tomorrow but the process is underway. They're out.
I'd say that Levi Colwill positing a pic of himself celebrating what has been a wonderful season for him and Brighton is far less of a concern for Chelsea fans than a certain player posting pics taking the piss out of people in the gym and then performing like he did last night.
Saul loan signing is the perfect solution for Chelsea. Top quality midfield options for the season and all options open for next summer. Lukaku + Saul = great window

As reported by Sky Sports, Harry Kane has told Tottenham Hotspur he wants to leave this summer. All of the clubs

Reports out of France of a problem between Frank Lampard and N'Golo Kante over a wedding are, excuse my French, total bollocks. Remember, it was Lampard who granted Kante compassionate leave when he was worried about Covid. No issue between manager and player.
There will 100 per cent be people in Liverpool who have got the vaccination in part because of what Jurgen Klopp has been saying publicly about it. Huge respect to him for that.
Southgate has just said that despite being cut from his 26-man squad, Jesse Lingard is set to start England's first warm-up game against Austria tomorrow night. Err...
Kurt Zouma's move to West Ham will mean Chelsea have banked over £100m in incoming transfers this summer. Even with Kounde and Saul possibly arriving, the net spend could be under £30m. A piece on how Marina Granovskaia has played the transfer market

Disgraceful that games are being postponed this late. No regard for supporters and no regard for impact of thousands of people travelling on public transport in a pandemic. Surely we are at a stage where if there is any doubt at all games have to be called off the night before.
Last weekend, Chelsea could call on the European footballer of the year to steady the midfield and this weekend it was a midfielder who should really win the Ballon d'Or. Their other sub, Timo Werner, assisted the third. Chelsea's bench could be the difference in the title race.
‘Petr Cech has been included in the squad as emergency goalkeeper cover. This is a precautionary step due to the unprecedented conditions currently caused by the Covid-19 crisis. He takes up a position as a non-contract player’.

Koulibaly actually touching down in London first to do medical etc and then fly on to either LA or Vegas to join up with the rest of the Chelsea squad.
Christopher Vivell will join Chelsea as technical director after he left RB Leipzig, where he was employed in the same role. Club met with him again this week.

The only sacking Todd Boehly should be thinking about is himself as interim sporting director. I get why he did it and what the new ownership were up against but this break is the time to hand over to the new recruitment team, support Potter and let them plan the next two windows
I thought everything about Chelsea was spot on tonight. Gameplan worked perfectly, Werner stretched the City defence and combined excellently with Ziyech. Mount brilliant and defence superb. Another clean sheet for Kepa too. Thomas Tuchel is doing an excellent job
#cfc
There has been some naivety and chaos about Chelsea's summer but you can't fault the ambition of the owners. They have chased big targets and £50m on Cucurella, a player City wanted, again points to big ambitions and backing Tuchel
#cfc
This will annoy people, but you absolutely have to question Tuchel's decision not to even have Tammy Abraham on the bench. They were toothless today and Abraham is a goalscorer.
Fikayo Tomori will not be part of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad named later. Great shame for him and feels a bit harsh if the judgement came as a result of the two CL games v Chelsea.
Leipzig are not listed on German stock exchange so they and Chelsea can officially announce a deal on Werner whenever is mutually beneficial. Could be next week, could be at end of Bundelsiga season or when Leipzig are out of the CL. Whenever it is, Werner's on his way to
#cfc
Absolutely unprecedented for Abramovich to feel the need to explain a managerial sacking. Just shows what a big decision it was on Lampard and the esteem he is held in by all at the club, despite this decision
#cfc
As with the Sterling and Ake (still pending fee agreement) moves, Koulibaly makes a lot of sense for Chelsea. Senegal and Napoli captain so brings leadership/experience and already has a playing relationship with Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea in talks to sign Cucarella - as reported elsewhere. Seems Tuchel thinks he could play LCB as well as LWB. Brighton already looking for repalcements
#cfc
Thomas Tuchel could not have handled that press conference about Romelu Lukaku any better. Back in the squad, he's apologised and hopefully the fans can now forgive him
#cfc
Romelu Lukaku can be dropped, fined and made to do a video apology for an interview with Sky Italia, while Aubmeyang can be dropped, stripped of the captaincy and given a free transfer for being late. But Kurt Zouma is still yet to be punished for abusing a cat.
Big win for Chelsea. It should have been by more but that's a very tidy start to the Thomas Tuchel era. Thought Mason Mount was excellent, as ever
#cfc
Without knowing full details, it does seem odd that Chelsea's request was turned down and it's a huge problem that we don't know on what grounds and why their case is judged different to some others. It certainly leaves PL open to accusations of bias etc....
Tottenham are easy to analyse. Spending over £50m to sack Pochettino, hire three different managers and end up in a position where you might re-hire Pochettino while winning nothing in between is gross incompetence.
Told after speaking to him briefly last night, Thomas Tuchel met with Roman Abramovich again this morning in Porto. Understand the talks went very well and I think it's safe to assume we'll hear something official on his contract extension in the coming hours/days.

Feel a bit sorry for football managers being put up to defend the actions of their clubs when the chairmen and chief execs who made the decision are too cowardly to speak about it, face questions about it or defend their stance.
