Incredibly important step the club and manager have taken here. This will have a hugely positive knock on effect within football I’m sure 👏🏾. Hopefully Lyle can get all the support he needs to get happy and healthy first, then back on the pitch enjoying his football 🙏🏾
One in four people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year. According to the PFA, over 75% of professional footballers have experienced some kind of mental health issue. If you or someone you know is affected by the issues raised - please reach out. Help is

It’s time to Create the Space for mental health in football The pitch is a place to express yourself – away from the field it’s not always so easy Introducing Create the Space: a player-led movement to create space for people to express themselves off the pitch as well as on it

Incredibly honest and powerful interview. Takes a hell of a strong person to be able to be so vulnerable, so huge kudos to you @dele_official 👏🏾. This is so much more important than anything you could ever do on a football pitch
I’m struggling to find the words to put with this post but please watch my most recent interview with Dele. It’s the most emotional, difficult yet inspirational conversation I’ve ever had in my life. Watch the interview on @wearetheoverlap here https://t.co/60d4IZwQmR

Without David Beckham breaking the boundaries of what a footballer could be, so many of us wouldn’t be able to now pursue the passions and interests we have, be it in fashion, music, film or whatever Pretty big moment on a personal note to produce a film with him and Zidane 👇🏾
Welcoming Zinedine Zidane as an #EASPORTSFC FUTURES Ambassador, with David Beckham joining him for a special community training session at the Z5 complex. #FCFUTURES is our global plan to grow the world’s game through investment in community football: https://t.co/w1dtuLbNNR

A @thisisoneighty production ✨ Pretty surreal that our company has made a film as part of the home kit launch for the club I grew up supporting ❤️

I don’t completely disagree with the sentiment, but out of curiosity I wonder if you or anyone else would put themselves out there like that in this current climate? No generation of player has ever been so criticised or scrutinised as this one, I don’t think
This isn’t a message to Leeds players it’s to all players/teams apologising. No-one is falling for sanitised/vanilla PR guff anymore. Speak from the heart and better on video so fans can see your faces.

I’ve always found it weird when people I don’t know, know me. Nothing personal, it’s how I look at pretty much everyone 😅
@80s90sfootball @MarvinSordell in Shoreditch House gym last week. Sadly no photos allowed. Said hello though, he just kind of looked at me slightly puzzled. #YouOrn

The majority of sacrifices that any player would make to get to that level would come between the ages of about 5-18, with a less than 1% success rate. Perhaps it wasn’t put across right, but surely Simon knows that nobody just wakes up and decides to earn a PL salary 😅
😠 Simon: "#PL Footballers train two hours a day and have Wednesdays off! Get over yourself!" 🫢 Martin: "You were in the Championship...nobody has Wednesdays off in the PL!" Jordan & Keown lock horns over how much footballers actually sacrifice. 👀

So John Yems went on air and said that he deserves an apology, and that it feels terrible to be called racist? Did I hear that correctly? If so, interesting

What does it need to take for the massive responsibility we have to actually be approached as such? Why are there so many more questions asked than answers received? There are enough examples for us to change what is the heart of our society, so what exactly are we waiting for?

As governing bodies, clubs, fans, media, players etc are we doing everything to ALLOW football to be the best version of itself? If not, why not? Because constantly we see mental health issues, bullying, racism, sexism, homophobia and so many other things ‘accepted’. Why?

Practically every day, I have conversations with people that work within the football industry in differing capacities, and almost always we agree that football isn’t anywhere near where it can or should be.
