Honestly, @PayPal may just be the worst customer service I've ever interacted with, so much so that I've felt the need to complain online 🫠

Our team is spending some time at the end of the year making small improvements across Buffer; the little things that make creating, scheduling, and engaging feel smoother. πŸ’™ If you have a suggestion or would like to see something added, now’s a great time to add it or upvote

@buffer Easier said than done, though. Staying on top of every comment is tough, especially across multiple platforms. You can now see all your comments from LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, and Bluesky in one place, minus the endless notification pile.

Since the beginning of the year, I've made it a habit to share something on social every single week. What surprised me the most? The biggest shift didn't come from posting more - it came from engaging in real conversations.

A big-picture view of why we’re rebuilding the API at Buffer, who it’s for, and where we’re headed next.

3️⃣ Gratitude Session. Our last session of the retreat focuses on sharing gratitude and giving thanks to other colleagues. Sometimes we give thanks for work things that have happened during the week, and other times, we take a moment to share something more personal.

2️⃣ Personal Stories Dinners. We spend two evenings with three other colleagues from different parts of the company, and talk about life. You leave these sessions feeling more connected to your teammates, developing a rapport that goes beyond work.

1️⃣ Team Wide Support Time. All hands on deck answering questions in the customer support inbox. We develop a deeper level of empathy for our users, and leave that session feeling energized and empowered to ship features / fix bugs that can improve our product.

Wow, what a week! It's very rare to spend time in person together as a remote company, but once per year, we carve out that time so that we can develop deeper connections to our goals and each other. There are 3 "sessions" that make a Buffer retreat quite unique ⬇️

@buffer It also serves as a great reminder that small, incremental habits can compound into big changes. If you haven't had a chance to give this a spin, you should check it out and let us know what you think.

One of my goals for 2025 was to create more content for myself, particularly around building in public and some of the projects I've been working on at @Buffer. Last week, we launched streaks and it's been so helpful to keep me accountable to my goals.

This project served as a good reminder to me and my team to never underestimate the investment in improving existing features. The impact of having a more simplified user experience can really move the needle!

2. We brought back Instagram Personal Profiles. We deprecated this feature when the Instagram API became available, assuming that support for Personal Profiles via a notification-based flow would no longer be needed. The results speak for itself.
