Somaliland has signed a deal with Ethiopia to grant it access to 20 kilometres of Red Sea coast in exchange for official recognition of its status as an independent country.
Republic of Somaliland and the Fedeal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. In the MoU, Ethiopia officially recognises the Republic of Somaliland while Somaliland grants naval and commercial sea access on lease to Ethiopia for 50 years.
