Scarlet Globe-mallow is one of the few plants with orange flowers in Manitoba. This drought-tolerant species has metre-long taproots helping it reach water deep in the ground. It's typically only found in sunny, dry prairies on clayey and sandy soils. #WildflowerWednesday

This beautiful Japanese doll is wearing a Shinto wedding outfit, including a kimono and a tsunokakushi or headdress. This entire doll was handmade by Mrs. Ine Hoshino, who moved to Canada with her husband Ikkan in 1967, to live closer to their son and his family in Winnipeg.
