This is the racist underbelly of the new OCA "English-only" localism:
It tells us that Grееks, Slаvs, Rоmаniаns must be stripped of their identities and deracinated. Or they are to be deported and "sent back".
These shameful attitudes are a total rejection of Holy Orthodoxy.
@maksimologija
Oh? Why not post the full interaction. This is not the "English-only racism" you wish to shoehorn in my words, it's universally applied, even to Americans leaving America.
@maksimologija
I look forwards to beginning to celebrate the Liturgy in Ojibwa here in Michigan! Considering that anglos should presumably also be stripped of their language once outside England.
@maksimologija
I think more openness to the foreign would do both sides good. I used to be very pro vernacular (grew up using Slavonic), but I developed scepticism by observing the often revolutionary and arrogant attitudes of the proponents of vernacular-only. I learnt to appreciate Slavonic.
@maksimologija
This is the obvious over-correction for the stance that says the faith is so intrinsically linked to the old world that it's impossible for someone to convert unless they become another ethnicity.
The blessed way is obviously in between these stances.
@maksimologija
While I agree with you, I also think that Orthodox Christians should not go to a foreign country and demand that their ethnic churches be represented there. They should go to the Orthodox Church that’s already present there.
@Ateninhas2
We have to be careful with appealing to Constantinople 1872 here.
Constantinople 1872 defines ethnophyletism as establishing a Church for one ethnic group on the canonical territory of another.
It doesn't say anything about this sort of American racism per se.
