The repose of Metr. Kallistos means that there is no living British Orthodox Bishop. Every Bishop in the UK is foreign. No British priest has been consecrated to the Orthodox Episcopacy since 1982. Today, Orthodoxy in Britain is more foreign than it has been for over 40 years.

@maksimologija So? We aren’t phyletists.

@BrotherAugusti2 In fact, having a de facto 40-year policy of not ordaining British clergy to the Episcopate is itself "phyletism"!

@Adulisian I wish I could give a simple answer. But it's an shocking fact that does require an explanation.

@HDuginism Yes there certainly is. E.g. the monastery founded by St Sophrony in Essex.

@maksimologija It took 30 years for the Anglo-Saxon Church to have bishops of their own (not sent from Rome). Having the modern British Church under "Old Country" capitivity IS phyletism. There is a reason why Antioch fought Greek captivity with tooth and nail
