Travel cot mattresses are often thinner and harder than cot mattresses, but don’t be tempted to ‘pad it out’. Extra quilts or folded blankets increase the risk of accidents and SIDS. Just make sure it is firm, flat, fits the frame well, and has a waterproof cover.

If you're staying with family over the holidays, it's still important to follow @lullabytrust safer sleep advice. Babies should sleep on a firm, flat, waterproof mattress, ideally in a cot or Moses basket. For more tips on travelling and safer sleep visit https://t.co/QLx0yHVN6F

Download our ‘Safer sleep in winter’ guide for free! It can be tempting to wrap your baby up in the colder months, but research shows that babies are better off being cooler rather than too hot. https://t.co/dBqXac2ivu

Co-sleeping is when an adult shares a sleep surface with their baby. This includes sofa sharing (which is dangerous) and bed sharing (which we're talking about this week). Room sharing is when a baby has their own sleep space in the same room as an adult. #SafeSleep #SleepyBaby

Co-sleeping: Move all adult bedding (duvets, pillows, etc) away from baby so they have a clear, flat space to sleep on and lay baby near the middle of the bed so they can’t roll out or get trapped. Sometimes co-sleeping can be dangerous. More info here: https://t.co/ps9kuS1EwR
