A junior doctors starting salary with the NHS is £29,384 . If this government think that £38,700 is the basic requirement for family visas how can they justify such a low basic salary for those expected to save our lives in A & E?

So it is extremely clear and not misunderstood - spouses do not get access to the public funds on their route to settlement. It is called NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS [NRPF]. The govn use protecting the taxpayer as an excuse - due to NRPF, 'taxpayers' are protected anyway!!!

Early this week the government more than doubled the Minimum Income Requirement. Now people would need to earn over £38k to be able to live with their partner and children here in the UK. 60% of men and 75% of women do not earn that amount
