I made an excellent last minute decision to go to Liverpool to see @samwetherell launch his new book, a history that treats racialised experiences of obsolescence - not the welfare state - as the twentieth century lesson for us now. Read read read!

Very sad news. I was lucky to have been taught by him - a kind and encouraging teacher who knew how to get the best out of his students. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

We are very saddened by the death of Prof Geraint H. Jenkins who taught in our Dept of Welsh History from 1968-93. A greatly respected Welsh historian and a prolific writer, he will also be remembered as a witty and entertaining lecturer. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

It's a tough day for the British steel industry with the confirmation that around 2,500 jobs are to be lost at the Port Talbot works in South Wales. It's just the latest chapter in a long story of decline at the site, according to historian Dr Bleddyn Penny👇

One last plug of my dissertation survey! I’m only 10 responses away from my target. If you support any of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United, or Spurs and could fill it out I’ll be super grateful! It’ll only take about 4 minutes, thank you
