, I was a welfare mom. What ended poverty for me was a university education subsidized by the federal and prov. governments. Daycare paid for by a prov govt, subsidized housing & the federal CTB. I’m grateful for federal Liberal & (90s era) BC NDP policies

The only thing that has ever really reduced poverty is capitalism. Can’t end poverty without educating young people of the benefits of free markets and fighting socialism.

I’m short on money to pay taxes to keep arrogant liberals bragging of their freebies paid from public funds. Do you have any thoughts on returning some or all of that money now that you are successful? Or do I have to keep working 3 jobs to pay for your luxury?
@apapermann
@AndrewScheer
I’ve repaid all of my student loan debt and have many times over repaid what government spent to give me a hand up. And I’ll happily continue to do so for the next 20ish years.

@AndrewScheer
Good for you and that is why we need such resources. A friend with 3 children went this route and is now a full time high school teacher. Bravo

It's what
@AndrewScheer
either doesn't get or more appropriately chooses to not comprehend. He may say Life is not fair...True, but when the playing field is not level by unchecked Capitalism and people don't have any way of improving their situation, society as a whole suffers.
@lisakinsella
@AndrewScheer
By demonizing social policies whose sole purpose is to help is not productive in any way. Also I might add anyone who's been in that situation it's not a free ride socialist paradise which
@AndrewScheer
wants his donors to believe, it's demeaning. Something he chooses to ignore.

@AndrewScheer
Good point. Really, the capitalism he's referring to always occurs within some statist context. Can't separate-out and quantify how much of poverty-reduction is attributable to the capitalist component in isolation. Doesn't exist.
@lisakinsella
@AndrewScheer
I just tweeted exact same thing yesterday lol I don't think Mr Scheer understands investing in people pays off in long run by turning out healthy citizens that lowers costs for govt, capitalists often helped by state.
@lisakinsella
@AndrewScheer
Your education is subsidized by the government, via working taxpayers at the businesses, who provide the employment and thus income which, in turn, is sent to the government, who is responsible for spending it on programs and services for the citizens.
