I feel like Iβm crazy. So. Iβm assuming they retconned Steve and Buckyβs past in rivals being like the comics at some point.

Neither here or in the game itself does it say he was Steveβs TEEN sidekick. And if it did at one point, they deleted it ON PURPOSE to reflect the timeline matching them MCU, where Bucky is in fact older than Steve by one year.

I think this quote in particular makes it pretty damn obvious itβs not like the comics. They grew up together and Bucky died while serving in WWII.

And when something is retconned, that means it no longer exists in the canon of that universe.
So, no in the Rivals universe Steve was not a father figure or mentor to Bucky like in the comics. Bucky was from Indiana in the comics and he obviously isnβt here.

I see this as total grounds to be able to ship them in the marvel rivals verse. Ship away.
If anyone has evidence that Iβm wrong, please let me know and Iβll definitely concede and take back everything.
And also, not even th comics are dependent on each other.

There are probably comics out there that have totally different timelines than each other.
