Our physical health impacts our mental health and visa versa, that’s why returning to exercise post-partum is a really positive step for new mums. Exercise can look very different pre and postnatally, start small mamas, baby steps turn into big staircases.

You get many mixed responses when you exercise throughout pregnancy and the same can happen when you return to exercise after having your baby. For many, exercise is an escape, it is a time to regain their composure, save their sanity and exercise in that sense, is medicinal.

Exercise should be a CELEBRATION of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate! No matter what exercise looks like for you, celebrate it, be grateful for the movement and for time on yourself – if it’s not bringing you joy, its time to try something new!

Today’s thought for the bin, Take that thought and slap it with a wet sock! Your life has changed, your body has done incredible things and you are a whole new person now, that alone is a wonderful thing. The new you is worth celebrating NOT criticising.

There is big difference between what I want and what I need. I want 6-pack abs. I NEED doughnuts and white wine

Being a mum is the best reason you’ll ever have to take care of yourself. So be the best version of you so that your kids can have the best version of you too.

It’s time for hot mum-summer, buy a size up-summer, wear the shorts-summer, give yourself a break-summer, do the things that bring you joy-summer. Let’s shut down all talk of losing weight this summer, let’s be happy and love ourselves a little bit more this summer

Remember those times when you said ‘I’m so tired’ before you had kids. That was cute wasn’t it

Pre-natal fitness isn’t about making sure your body ‘snaps back’ after birth. Exercising throughout pregnancy should be about preparing your body for birth, keeping your cortisol levels low, taking time to work on your own mental health will aid your recovery postnatally.

Stop telling women we can do it all. We know that better than anyone. We don’t want to do it all. We shouldn’t have to do it all. We’d like someone to do a little bit of ‘it all’ so that maybe one day we can have a nap
