RIP Billy Bonds, i loved my short loan spell at Millwall in 1998 when you was manager, I travelled to Canary Wharf to a hotel and spend the night hoping the loan deal would get over the line to play against Burnley the next day I’d never met Billy but his first phone call

Very sad to hear my former manager @WestHam Billy Bonds has passed away. Billy signing me gave me one of my best moments in football, helping the hammers get promoted to the Premier League. My thoughts go out to the family & friends of Billy at this very sad time. #BillyBonds

Sad news today. RIP Billy We all have boyhood heroes & I so remember the day I met 2 of mine as Billy was honoured with a Stand named after him at West Ham. It brought back so many happy boyhood memories. Billy represented every trait that drew me in as a West Ham fan. 💔⚒️

RIP the great Billy Bonds. Fantastic lionheart, maybe the best ever uncapped English player. I once told him how much I wished he'd played for Spurs. Gave me a very old-fashioned look. What a man.

There's some footballers that even though they're not your club, you give that little nod of approval to, whenever mentioned. Billy Bonds sat right in there on that small list of men, for fans of a certain age. Rest in peace x

You know that feeling when you are little and your dad seems 10 feet tall. I’m 6 foot tall and when I spoke to Billy, that’s the exact same feeling I had.. Not because he made you feel small. Some people just have Aura - presence. You felt as tho you were chatting to a giant. ⚒️

Everyone at Millwall is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former manager Billy Bonds MBE, aged 79. Billy oversaw 53 games for The Lions between 1997 and 1998, signing Neil Harris in the process, who would later become the club’s all-time record goalscorer. Our thoughts
