all artists, especially black ones, deserve to make a fair living without Academy recognition or having to participate in a cycle that promotes hierarchies and individualism at the expense of others. pushing for this helps to perpetuate this cycle.
Getting recognition from the Grammys isnât about validation or clout. Itâs the fact that that the platform immediately means a higher pay grade, financial growth and increased resources. At the end of the day we want to make art, radical or not and afford to make a living.
