Machines are at more risk of serious damage in the winter than the summer. The drastic changes in temperature if a machine turns off can create a lot more damage to the PCB. Make sure your ambient temps aren't too cold this winter

Ahem, if only a firmware would allow for frequency adjustment based on die temp so the machines could always be on idle or ramp up slowly from cold conditions....

There definitely is a ramp up cycle. Whatsminer goes a lot slower which may be a reason why they have less issues.
The big problem is when they turn off suddenly for various reasons. Power outages can be a major issue.

Overclocking during the winter is definitely an option. A lot of miners have extremely cold air going into their mines in the winter which can be an issue. Fortunately miners produce heat and some of it can be recycled into the cold isle.
