What a lesson on our industry & resilience. 25 agents saw this magnificent manuscript over 4 years, I was lucky 26. 1 publisher loved & offered. Here we are, 15 years on, 12 books, over 20 languages, big prizes, bestsellers & the odd dip, and the best is yet to come.
Clearing out some bits and I found a copy of the letter that got me my agent back in 2007. FAIRY BLOOD was an early working title for 13 TREASURES. I’d had approx. 25 rejections over almost 4 years and had no idea my luck was about to change. If this is you now, keep going!

For WBD I went to my old school and talked about my job, my authors and their books. Audible intakes of breath when I talked about the list, arms up so high to ask questions about the authors they love. One girl asked what my proudest moment at work was.
