Having visited Rome prior to Atlanta, the thought that comes to mind is 'You could fit two smarts and quite a few vespas in that one parking space'

I'll read Vasari's hagiography of Michelangelo to counterbalance

Doing so he stays true to his pledge not to feign admiration where he has none (but the passage feels more like an occasion to dunk on his contemporaries and take the high ground)

Finding myself quite at odds with some of Dickens' opinions on Rome. He does not like Michelangelo's Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel (Pictures from Italy, 1846)

NB: while trying to get acquainted with the culture of my new place, I stumbled upon those gems (a Carry Grant *and* a Tina Fey/Paul Rudd that had passed under my radar: travelling abroad does indeed have transformative effects on one's education)
